CollaborationI don't know about you, but I have always hated group projects, or at least the traditional way that they tend to be structured. I have 3 kids at university, and they invariably seem to get stuck with the bulk of the project. While I was writing this, my daughter was complaining that her group has to present today and two members had not even made contact with the group. And she's in teacher education! Isn't that sad?
There are many tools on the web that excel at collaboration and can make a teacher's life much easier, too. Please click on the links to the left to explore some tools. But before you go... do you see that map to the left? That shows who has visited this page... from around the world. One trend in education is to find someone in another country and have students collaborate or work together on a topic. Many educators now consider that The World is Flat "...a global, Web-enabled playing field that allows for multiple forms of collaboration on research and work in real time, without regard to geography, distance or, in the near future, even language." ~Thomas Friedman. Collaboration, within a class and outside the walls, is considered an important 21st century skill. |
